Our next Sign Magic Workshop is now less than eight weeks away – March 9-11, 2012.  In these workshops we talk about, show and practice, hands-on, all the things I write about here in the blog. We cover many other subjects as well including marketing and selling of three dimensional signs. There are no secrets, nothing is held back as we do our best to cram 45 years of experience into three days of learning.

We are now through our first day of the Orlando Sign Magic Workshop. While the class size may be small, the enthusiasm for learning is high. Each student is getting plenty of one on one time and getting all their questions answered. EJ Nordurft, the product rep from EnRoute is aptly handling the technical side of the lessons while I handle the artistic side. We’ve covered lots of EnRoute territory and also done some hands-on parts of the workshops. The entire group is experienced in EnRoute and eager to learn more. It is going well!

Tomorrow I’ll be gathering more pictures of the projects as we proceed. Stay tuned…

We won’t be having a large group in Orlando for the Sign Magic Workshop this time around. The economy is still recovering here, a few have had to cancel but we have a small, eager group interested in learning all they can to create imaginative, dimensional signs in the future. The material we cover will be the same as always with even more one on one time for our students. It promises to be another great workshop!

The tables and chairs are set up. The supplies are all laid out. Everything is tested and ready to go.

The Sign Magic Workshop in Florida is quickly approaching. I talked with the organizers this morning and preparations are well underway there. 

At the workshop we’ll be covering a broad range of topics including design, building of 3 files,  pricing, marketing and a whole lot more. There will also be lots of opportunity to get your hands dirty as we demonstrate and then work on our painting techniques. Plus each student will get the opportunity to try their hand at sculpting a three dimensional project of their own. Bring an open mind for i will be three days of non-stop learning!

The eleventh Sign MAGIC Workshop we have hosted in our shop is now complete. And what a workshop it was!  This was an enthusiastic group, waiting at the door when I unlocked it at eight each morning and reluctant to leave when I locked the shop at eleven each night.  In between there was a whole lot of learning. We talked, shared and laughed through each day, discovering many things along the way. We painted, sculpted, wired, welded and mudded. Our attendees were from near and far, British Columbia, Ontario, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Georgia, Minnesota and Florida.

A good time was had by all.
