Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop Sign – Part 1

Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop Sign – Part 1

Some jobs are fun from the beginning to end. My family and I were recently at a great new candy store that opened up in our town – Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop.  The store is as great as the name and if you’re ever in Warwick, NY you have to stop in – they have every candy you can imagine and more. We had a nice conversation with the owner and wished him luck then he mentioned he was in need of a sign – so we sprung into action.  They have such a great logo, a bottle cap and a fun font.

Knickerbocker Motorsports – Seat Mold

Knickerbocker Motorsports – Seat Mold

Knickerbocker Motorsports is the premier automotive racing team at Columbia University. These guys build and race Formula SAE race cars. Very cool! Recently we were contacted by the President of the Club, Vinod Nimmagadda, asking KDF to help them create the mold for the newly designed racecar seat. they’ll use the mold to create the seat out of carbon fiber. They’ve engineered every aspect of this car and supplied us with accurate 3D drawings and models.

77′ Corvette Wrap

77′ Corvette Wrap

Is there a cooler car than a 77′ Corvette?  Maybe but this one was awesome. What a fun project it was to wrap this for John. Nanette did a great job on the design and Rad wrapped it with precision! Great job everyone.

Callahan’s Hot Dogs – Food Truck Wrap

Callahan’s Hot Dogs – Food Truck Wrap

If you’re from NJ there’s a good chance you have great memories of Callahan’s Hot Dogs.  Callahan’s Hot Dogs has been a staple in NJ since 1950.  Unfortunately they closed their doors about seven years ago.But the grandson of founder Leonard “Artie” Castranni, had big plans for the beloved hot dog business.  Daniel DeMiglio, being a smart entrepreneur decided to resurrect the brand…and take it mobile with a food truck. Daniel contacted KDF for the branding and design on the food truck – and we were pumped! We had a short time to get it designed, printed and installed for the big debut.  we got it in right under the wire. Nanette jumped right on the design and nailed it – Rad got the vinyl done just in time. We were proud to work with such an iconic “NJ” brand and extremely happy that Daniel has brought back Callahan’s! If you see this truck YOU MUST STOP FOR A HOT DOG! Best of luck – Daniel.  Welcome Back Callahans – you’ve been missed! – Steve We started with this… And Here it is!

Spring Project for Bohemian Bloom

Spring Project for Bohemian Bloom

Sometimes KDF is  just a small part of a project. We could be creating a structure, a graphic or a number of other elements for our clients designs. No matter what is we love to see what our clients final piece! In this case we created some foam letters for Tana Leigh Gerber at Bohemian Bloom who creates amazing paper flora. Check out her work. We used 1/2″ Gator Foam cut on our MultiCAM 3000. We cut tabs into the logo and slotted a base for easy setup.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Sign

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Sign

Another super fun job! The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sign. This sign will hang at the Disney Store in Times Square. We cut the larger letters out of 1.5″ Precision Board HDU and the smaller letters from 3/4″ PVC.  We then cut the face of the letters from 1/4″ PVC. Brian then painted the red part of the letters with Metallic Red paint then airbrushed the gradation onto the face – WOW I love it

“Robots” Sign – Complete

“Robots” Sign – Complete

We’re coming to the end of the “Robots” project. I’m doing a little painting in place as it hangs in the wall.  First I’m going to paint the “guts” of the letters – then age them a little bit. This is a Modern Masters Metallic Copper.  I’ll then do a glaze of Black Pearl over the copper. Once dried I’ll rust out the metal clamps. The last touch is to dry brush some pure silver back over the face of each letter
